You need to have some champions, you need to have some people who are Believers

and the opportunity to teach differently.

~  Dean, the University of Arizona.

This shift will be regarded as threatening by some, viewed as a hostile act by some

but it will be an absolutely necessary thing to do in order to make schools of education relevant to the future.

~ Dr.Sharon P. Robinson, President and CEO, Association of Colleges of Teacher Education

  • We need 2 types of skills : Non-routine thinking and complex communications.
  • Schools need to equip students with a set of skills and capabilities for them to figure things out on their own.
  • We have to help people understand how to use their talents, their knowledge their abilities to better themselves and their society.
  • We need to instill the capacity for students to have  passion for asking questions.
  • The focus should shift from one of teaching to one of learning.
  • Every student of the 21st Century need to be able to critically think, problem solve, innovate, collaborate, communicate, be globally aware, be self-directed and be technologically literate - these are the new outcomes of the 21st Century.
  • It's about evaluating content and critically examining it rather than rote-memorization.
  • Teachers have to have, first and foremost, these 21st Century Skills in order for students to model after them.
